Piloting Price discovery

Saudāसौदा

“Khet se Bolee, Khet pe Paisa.”

A village-hosted, open-outcry auction that brings competitive buyers to the crop — and puts fair price discovery back in the farmer's hands.

The problem

Why it needs to exist

For most of rural India, the farmer is a price-taker. By the time produce moves from the farm gate through layers of aggregation to a distant mandi, the grower has surrendered both margin and information — accepting whatever single buyer happens to be standing in front of them.

It is a market that quietly works against the person who took all the risk: price is set far from the field, opaque to the one who grew the crop, and rarely truly competitive.

The approach

What we're building

Saudā turns that on its head. Instead of sending the crop to a distant, opaque market, it brings a competitive market to the village — a hosted, open-outcry auction where verified buyers bid in the open for exactly what's in front of them.

Every auction is run by a trusted Hesaathi, settled on the spot, and recorded — so the farmer walks away with a fair price today and a price history that compounds into leverage tomorrow.

How it works

From idea to the last mile

01

A Hesaathi convenes the auction in the village, aggregating nearby produce.

02

Verified buyers join — in person and remotely — and bid in the open.

03

The highest transparent bid wins; the farmer decides whether to sell.

04

Payment settles at the field, and the sale becomes a permanent price record.

Why it works

The model

Transparency by default

Open bids replace private deals, so price reflects real demand.

Trust at the centre

The Hesaathi the village already knows runs the floor.

Data that compounds

Every auction builds a price history that strengthens the farmer's hand.
